Producer & agency
license data, made queryable.

State departments of insurance publish licensing data, but every format and refresh cadence is different. Insurance License Database is the normalized, API-ready source of producer, agency, NPN, and line-of-authority records — built for compliance, insurtech, and recruiting teams that need dependable state-sourced data.

The Problem

Insurance license data is public — but not usable

State insurance license lookup tools were never designed for engineering teams, compliance pipelines, or anyone who needs producer licensing data at scale.

50 states, 50 formats

Every department of insurance publishes producer licensing data differently — column names, status codes, license classes, and refresh cadences all vary by jurisdiction.

Lookup portals not built for scale

State insurance license lookup tools are designed for one-off consumer queries — not for verifying hundreds of producers, batch enrichment, or programmatic access.

Manual research, stale spreadsheets

Teams burn hours keeping internal license records aligned with state systems. Spreadsheets drift, expiration dates slip, and producer licensing data goes stale fast.

Cleanup and normalization burden

Even when bulk data is available, you still inherit messy names, inconsistent state codes, and unmapped license types before it can power compliance checks or workflows.

The Solution

A centralized insurance license database

We collect, normalize, and structure insurance agent license data so your team can search, integrate, and build on a maintained state-sourced data layer.

Centralized insurance license database

One source for producer, agency, license, status, and appointment data — drawn from official state insurance regulators, not third-party aggregators.

Structured producer & agency records

Every state's data is mapped to a consistent schema for individuals, agencies, license classes, lines of authority, and license status. One integration handles every jurisdiction.

Searchable and API-ready

Query by name, license number, state, NPN, or license status. The insurance license data API is designed for compliance pipelines, recruiting tools, and data enrichment.

Built for teams, not one-off lookups

Designed for compliance teams, insurtech engineers, recruiters, and data vendors who need insurance license records at scale, with reliable refreshes and source attribution.

Use Cases

Where teams use it

Common workflows Insurance License Database supports today. If your use case isn't here, we'd still like to hear about it.

Compliance & Legal

Compliance checks

Verify that a producer or agency holds an active license in a given state and line of authority before binding business or paying commissions.

Recruiting & Sales

Producer recruiting

Source and qualify licensed producers across states. Filter by license class, state, status, and tenure to drive recruiting and outreach lists.

Carriers & Agencies

Appointment & licensing workflows

Power onboarding, appointment, and termination flows with up-to-date producer licensing data instead of stale spreadsheets.

Market Intelligence

Market mapping

Understand producer density, agency footprints, and license-class distribution by state to inform expansion and territory planning.

Data Teams

Data enrichment

Enrich CRM, lead, and partner records with verified insurance agent license data — name, license number, state, and status.

Operations

Internal dashboards

Build internal tools and dashboards that monitor license expirations, status changes, and compliance gaps from normalized state-sourced data.

Developers

API integrations

Drop a single insurance license data API into onboarding, KYC-style verification, and producer management workflows instead of state-by-state integrations.

Coverage

Multi-state coverage, growing every release

Insurance License Database ingests insurance license records directly from each state department of insurance, normalizes them into a single schema, and keeps them refreshed. New states ship continuously, prioritized by customer demand.

Producer records

Individual licensee data including name, license number, license class, lines of authority, and status.

Agency records

Business-entity license data — agency name, license number, state, license class, and status.

Status & appointments

License status, expirations, and appointment information where the state publishes it.

FAQ

Common questions

What insurance license data are you collecting?

We are focused on producer (individual) and agency (business entity) license records published by U.S. state departments of insurance — license number, license class, lines of authority, status, issue and expiration dates, NPN where available, and supporting attributes such as residency, address, and appointment information when published. We are not collecting consumer or claims data.

Where does the data come from?

Directly from official sources — state department of insurance license lookups, public license downloads, and open-data portals. We are not repackaging third-party directories. Where a state offers a bulk export or API, we use that. Where it offers only a lookup portal, we evaluate it case-by-case before committing to coverage.

Will there be an API?

Yes. The insurance license data API is the primary product. We are designing it to mirror how teams already think about producer licensing data: search by name, NPN, license number, or state; filter by status and license class; and get back normalized JSON with provenance metadata on every record.

How do I get started?

Reach out through the contact page with your use case and the states you need. We respond personally, scope the integration, and provision API access. Coverage expands continuously, so if a state you need is not yet shipped we can tell you when it is on deck.

How is this different from NIPR or state lookup portals?

NIPR and state lookup portals are great for single-record verification and remain the regulator's system of record. We are a developer-friendly data layer on top of the same public information — built for teams that need to query, integrate, and analyze producer licensing data in bulk rather than do one-off lookups. For regulatory filings or legal attestation, you should still reference the official source directly.
